Meagher County Community Center Presents Oktoberfest
The community center continues to provide fall activities.
The Meagher County Community Center has had a very busy fall season and continues to bring residents of the region a wide range of different opportunities and occasions that are sure to add value to people’s lives. Through social interaction and educational events, the Meagher County Community Center is making leaps and bounds to bring citizens closer together. The coming winter months often signal a time of isolation for many members of the community, but the establishment is creating a familiar outlet for area involvement no matter the season. The local center is continuing on their ongoing streak of community events by providing the “wurst” party ever this week. The community center is celebrating its own version of Oktoberfest. Oktoberfest is traditionally an autumn festival held in Munich, Germany in the fall months of late September and early October. However, places across the world have come to celebrate the occasion as a fall activity and harvest celebration. Oktoberfest is well known for its distinct food, good spirits, and beer drinking (although the Meagher County Community Center may not participate in the last item). Oktoberfest, even so, is still considered a family event in many areas, and the festivals in Germany often feature carnival-like rides and games. Oktoberfest in Germany attracts a wide variety of tourists and the festival runs for multiple weeks on end. All in all, Oktoberfest is intended to bring people, especially residents of a specific area, together before the coming winter months. The Meagher County Community Center’s version of Oktoberfest may not be as alcohol filled as that of the one in Germany, but it will be featuring delicious food relating to traditional German dishes, as well as some other offerings. The community center will be serving brats on a bed of Kraut, German potato salad, rye bread, and German green beans. There will also be a salad bar offered at the social event that will serve pickled beets with onion, cucumber salad, and German coleslaw. Lastly, Black Forest cake will be provided as a delectable dessert to compliment the filling meal. The Meagher County Community Center’s Oktoberfest will happening from four to seven p.m.on Thursday, October 19. All community members are invited to attend the unique fall festival themed dinner.
