Winter Weather Incoming

Meagher County weather likely to shift.

Residents of Meagher County have been blessed with relatively temperate fall weather thus far. However, just as any place in Montana, the end of October often signals a shift from agreeable temperatures and conditions to that of chilly and unpleasant winter weather. Along with many areas of the Treasure State, the National Weather Service has sent out information regarding a potential winter storm in the Meagher County region. The Meagher County Sheriff’s Office has also issued a statement in relation to the weather. The community is under a Winter Storm Warning that will be effective from 6 p.m.on Tuesday, October 24 until 6 p.m.on Wednesday, October 25. The Meagher County Sheriff’s Office stated within the material that residents should be prepared for hefty snow conditions. In total, the anticipated snow may accumulate anywhere from 4 to 13 inches. Additionally, heavy wind is to be expected. These windy conditions are likely to include wind gusts of up to 35 miles per hour during the Winter Storm Warning. In addition to the Winter Storm Warning, the county (as well as areas of central, north central, and south west Montana) will be under a Winter Storm Watch towards the end of the week. This watch is to be effective from the evening of Wednesday, October 25 through the night of Thursday, October 28. Under the Winter Storm Watch information, area inhabitants may anticipate heavy snow. Snow may accumulate between 2 and 10 inches from Thursday into Friday. With potentially severe conditions, travel may become dangerous, difficult, or near impossible. For some vehicles, tire chains may be required. The Meagher County Sheriff’s Office recommended within their statement that those who live in remote or hard-to-access areas of the county to have adequate knowledge pertaining to weather conditions. The office also recommends to have appropriate clothing and snow gear available. The winter weather has the potential to impact Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning travel within the region.
